Modern Vessel Fleet
Deployment of 20 steel catamarans with night navigation capability has enhanced safety and comfort for over 8.5 lakh passengers. These vessels meet international standards of design, stability, and environmental compliance. Along with that to ensure safety and support rescue operations 3 tugs boat, 3 SAR boats and 3 MOBs ahs also been deployed.
Gateway of Guwahati Terminal
The Gateway of Guwahati (GoG) is India’s first modern river terminal, equipped with smart ticketing, EV charging, observatory deck, waiting lounge, baby creche, food court and real-time monitoring system. GOG is an all-weather terminal, with dynamic link span features which allow for it to be adjusted based on water level making it accessible even during the flood season
Equipped with all safety and sustainable features like a fire water tank, emergency assembly point, CCTV surveillance and access ramp, GOG not just ensure a safe and comfortable journey but is also accessible for Specially Abled people.
Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC)
Located at the Gateway of Guwahati terminal, the ICCC serves as a centralized hub to monitor vessel operations, coordinate with law enforcement and emergency services, and manage data through River Information Systems (RIS) for real-time decision-making.
Modular Terminals at Three Strategic Locations
Umananda, Nimati, and Aphalamukh will soon house modular terminals equipped with modern facilities such as waiting lounges, ticketing counters, and safety features. These terminals will improve inter-district river connectivity, reduce road congestion, and promote tourism by enabling seamless movement to popular destinations like Majuli and Umananda Island.
The economic ripple effects of these terminals are already visible. Local vendors, boatmen, transport operators, and support service providers are benefitting from the growing passenger footfall and operational expansion.
Floating/ Community Jetties:
There are several inland water terminals across the state which needs modernisation so as to keep the terminals abreast with the new technology and age. This is planned at various locations identified and shortlisted for priority development by Government of Assam. These terminals are spread all along National Waterway 2 on River Brahmaputra. Under this proposal, Government of Assam submited its proposal for development floating terminals in the mentioned locations – Uzan Bazar, Palashbari, Bokaghat, Sualkuchi, Chandrapur, Kurua Ghat, Rajaduar, Silghat, Gandhi Ghat, Jaleswar, Medartary Madortari, Dhubri. Design and development of few pilot locations are under finalization.
